Step 2 - Restore SCT Database

The first step to importing a SCT database is to restore it to your SQL database.  Johnson controls creates a SQL backup file named <<archivename>>.backup.  If you restore this file manually using SCT, you first have to copy the backup file in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Johnson Controls\MetasysIII\Databases.  You then have to open the SCT tool, select restore database.

You can easily restore SCT databases without using SCT by selecting Restore SCT Database from the SCT database menu.  Select the location of your backup file and the tool will copy the file to a temp directory and restore the database automatically.

Note:  The restore will overwrite any existing database with the same name.  If you have multiple instances of SQL installed on your PC, the RESTORE function from MSEA binder will not work correctly if you are restoring to a non-default instance of SQL.  RESTORE only works on the default instance of SQL.
